Gurez, Jan 15 : Locals from different areas of far flung Gurez Valley of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district today held a protest demanding air sorties for stranded students, sick and old.

Due to recent massive snow fall, Gurez-Bandipora road is still closed for the traffic and people.

Locals said there are students and patients who are stranded in different parts of Gurez. They said government is doing nothing to air lift them.

Scores of people from Bagtoor, Kanzalwan and Izmarg areas of Gurez Valley held protest and demanded air sorties to Kanzalwan. The protest was led by Sarpanch Izmarg Ghulam Mohiuddin.

“Due to closure of the road, we are facing tremendous difficulties,” the protesters said and raised slogans against administration.

In Charge Police Post, Izmarg assured them the matter will be raised with SDM Gurez and efforts be made to redress their problem.

The protesters later dispersed peacefully. (KNT)
