Life returns to normal after day-long spontaneous strike in Srinagar

Srinagar: Life on Saturday returned to normal after day-long spontaneous strike on Friday in protest against the killing of three alleged militants in an encounter by security forces in Srinagar on Wednesday.
The Army claimed that the deceased were militants while the family members contested it and said they were civilians and had nothing to do with militancy. Almost all mainstream parties in Kashmir have demanded impartial inquiry into the encounter while National Conference (NC) claimed that Lt Governor Manoj Sinha has assured probe.
Shops and business establishments, which were closed yesterday, are functioning normally. The Jamia market in the down town was open. Similarly scenes were witnessed in other parts of the down town and Shehar-e-Khas (SeK).
Business activities also resumed in the civil lines, including historic Lal Chowk, the nerve centre of the summer capital, Hari Singh High Street (HSHS), Gonikhan, Mahraj Bazar and Regal chowk.
Similar activities were also witnessed in the uptown and outskirts.
