Sitting LAHDC Leh councilor detained under cybercrime

Leh, Dec 24: Police in the Union Territory of Ladakh Thursday said it arrested a sitting councilor of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh under a cybercrime.
In a statement, District Police Leh said that it has arrested a sitting Councilor of LAHDC Leh in connection with Cyber Crime who was granted bail by court today.
The statement said that working out the complaint lodged by a lady that a mischievous person is making her fake profiles on various social media accounts and transmitting obscene words and pictures and sharing her phone number all around. “On which instant case FIR No.121 /2020”, the statement said.
It said that under section 67-A, 66-C IT Act was registered at Police Station Leh, and an investigation was taken up.
During the investigation, the accused was tracked down through technical surveillance & investigation, He was arrested on 23-12-2020 and kept in Police lock-up, the statement said.
It further said that the accused is currently granted bail by the Court today—(KNO)
