Srinagar, Dec 20: Questioning the Election Commission of India(CEI) decision to hold re-poll in a Shopian District Development Council (DDC) seat because of high polling percentage, former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti alleged that it is a brazen way to favour proxies of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP).
Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter president of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba said “ Seems like @ECISVEEP applies different standards according to the parties in question.Its decision to hold re poll in Balpora, Shopian because polling percentage was higher is a brazen way of favouring proxies & BJP”.
One of the constituent of Peoples Alliance of Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) Awami National Conference (ANC) alleging rigging had also demanded re-poll in two polling booths in Bandipora in north Kashmir. However, the allegation of rigging was turned down by the State Election Commission (SEC).
