COVID-19: 9 more die; 385 test positive in J&K

Total cases 117,317, death toll mounts to 1,826

Srinagar, Dec 17: Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday recorded nine deaths due to COVID-19 taking the death toll to 1,826 in the Union Territory while as 385 positive cases were reported taking the tally of positive cases to 117,317 in J&K.
Of the exact number of 117,317 cases, 69,224 are from Kashmir and 48,093 from Jammu division. Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among 385 new cases, 233 belong to Kashmir division while as 152 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 69,224 including 65,727 recoveries and 1,161 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 48,093 including 45,437 recoveries and 665 deaths.
The officials said that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 4,327 including 2,336 from Kashmir division and 1,991 from Jammu division.
With 395 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 111,164 which is 94.75 percent of the total cases.
“Cases tested positive in J&K include 94 from Srinagar, 20 from Baramulla, 24 from Budgam, 13 from Kupwara, 35 from Pulwama, 07 from Anantnag, 20 from Bandipora, 09 from Ganderbal, 03 from Kulgam and 08 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 152 from Jammu division include 98 from Jammu, 10 from Udhampur, 09 from Rajouri, 08 from Doda, 12 from Kathua, 02 from Kishtwar, 05 from Samba, 00 from Poonch, 06 from Ramban and 02 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.
Notably, in the last 24 hours nine persons who were tested positive for COVID-19 have died, among them four belong to Kashmir division and six to Jammu division.
As per media bulletin, patients who have died include two from Srinagar and one each from Baramulla and Ganderbal in Kashmir division and three from Jammu district and one each from Rajouri and Reasi in Jammu division.

As per officials figures, 24,538 positive cases including 439 deaths and 23,027 recoveries are from Srinagar, 7,793 including 170 deaths and 7,438 recoveries are from Baramulla, 7,386 including 7,025 recoveries and 105 deaths are from Budgam, 5,413 including 5,150 recoveries and 88 deaths are from Kupwara, 5,359 including 88 deaths and 5,079 recoveries are from Pulwama, 4,693 including 4,496 recoveries and 82 deaths are from Anantnag, 4,584 cases including 4,434 and 57 deaths are from Bandipora, 4,384 including 4,231 recoveries and 42 deaths are from Ganderbal, 2,633 including 2,518 recoveries and 53 deaths are from Kulgam and 2,441 including 2,329 recoveries and 37 deaths are from Shopian.

In Jammu division, 22,568 including 21,397 recoveries and 339 deaths are from Jammu district, 3,992 including 3,744 recoveries and 54 deaths are from Udhampur, 3,748 including 3,452 recoveries and 54 deaths are from Rajouri, 3,323 including 3,155 recoveries and 60 deaths are from Doda, 3,062 including 2,906 recoveries and 47 deaths are from Kathua, 2,692 including 2,570 recoveries and 21 deaths are from Kishtwar, 2,652 including 2,429 recoveries and 34 deaths are from Samba, 2,424 including 2,372 recoveries and 22 deaths are from Poonch, 2,055 including 1,966 recoveries and 21 deaths are from Ramban and 1,577 including 1,446 recoveries and 13 deaths are from Reasi.

As per the daily information bulletin, 837,563 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 20,087 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 4,327 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 783,909 persons have completed surveillance period and 27,414 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 3,448,733 samples are available.

Out of 3,448,733 the number of samples tested negative stands at 3,331,416 while as 117,317 have tested positive, among them 4,327 persons are active, 111,164 persons have recovered and 1,826 persons have died.
