Srinagar, Nov 29: The Jammu and Kashmir unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Sunday said that the recently formed alliance in the Union Territory is scared of BJP and thus has been creating an atmosphere like it is BJP versus all.
Talking to Precious Kashmir, former Deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leader, Kavinder Gupta said that he is pretty much sure that the party will do its best in the ongoing polls in Jammu and Kashmir.
He stated that they have chosen candidates from almost all the wards in Jammu and Kashmir and are supporting a few candidates where the party contestants were not chosen.
“We are hopeful that the party will bag maximum of seats in the ongoing DDC polls. Elections are being fought to win and we are expecting to secure majority of seats in the polls,” he said, adding that the PAGD is scared of the BJP and now is trying to create an atmosphere like it is BJP versus all.
“Everybody has a right to say anything but the fact is that atmosphere here is being created like it is BJP versus all here,” Gupta said.
Asked about claims of candidates being barred from campaigning, the BJP leader said that it is a well-known fact that in Kashmir, the security scenario is different.
“Not only the candidates of other parties, but our candidates too are not being allowed sometimes due to security reasons to ensure that no untoward incident takes place. There is nothing like BJP leaders are being allowed to freely while the leaders or candidates from other parties are being stopped,” he said.
Notably, the eight-phased maiden DDC polls and panchayat by-elections commenced in Jammu and Kashmir. The counting will be held on December 22.
