COVID-19 claims 5 more lives, 487 test positive

 

Death toll mounts to 1668 in J&K, total case tally at 108306  

 

Srinagar, Nov 26: Jammu and Kashmir reported five more COVID-19 deaths, while 487 more people tested positive for the pestilence in the last 24 hours, officials said on Thursday.
They said that the fatality count in the union territory due to COVID-19 has mounted  to 1668 while 108306 people have tested positive for the virus in J&K till date.

Among the fatalities today, three were reported from Kashmir and two from Jammu region.

The victims include a 55-year-old woman from Noorbagh Baramulla besides two persons from Srinagar—a 63-year-old man from Gojwara and a 90-year-old man from Chanapora.

Regarding deaths from Jammu division, they said, one of them was a 40-year-old woman from Bakool and a 72-year-old from Karan Nagar Jammu.

With these deaths, the total fatality count in the Valley has reached 1094 and 574 in the Jammu region.

Srinagar district with 415 deaths tops the list followed by Jammu (294), Baramulla (161), Budgam (99), Pulwama (86), Kupwara (82), Anantnag (77), Doda (53), Bandipora (50), Kulgam (50), Rajouri (49), Udhampur (46), Ganderbal (37), Shopian (37), Kathua (36), Samba (29), Poonch (22), Ramban (18), Kishtwar(16), and Reasi (9). J&K reports 487 new cases, total 108306

Meanwhile, thirteen travellers were among 487 new novel coronavirus cases reported in Jammu and Kahsmir in last 24 hours, taking the total tally 108306, officials said on Thursday.

Among them, they said, 232 were from Jammu division and 255 from Kashmir Valley.

Giving district wise details of the cases, the officials said that Srinagar reported 110 cases, Baramulla 29, Budgam 27, Pulwama 15, Kupwara 19, Anantnag 5, Bandipora 7, Ganderbal 21, Kulgam 3,

Shopian 19, Jammu 111, Rajouri  5, Udhampur 28, Doda 19, Kathua 25, Poonch 1, Samba 12, Kishtwar 15, Ramban 7 and Reasi 9.

A number of these cases were confirmed at the CD hospital’s diagnostic labouratory and include a female (70) from Kangan, female (60) from Wanpora, male (42) from Tral, female (45) from Khrew, male (60) from Kangan, male (61) from Arihal, female (50) from Chandrigam, female (46) from Lethpora, male (80) from Awantipora, male (29) from Lethpora, female (50) from Khanda Budgam, female (55) from Lethpora, female (26) from Lethpora, male (50) from Railway Station Kakapora, female (NA) from Athwajan, three females (20, 19, 45) from Sonwar, female (32) from Srinagar, female (71) from Shalimar, female (80) from Ganderbal, female (47) from Zakura, male (28) from Jawahar Nagar, male (50) from Yekhrajpora, male (36) from Soura Srg, male (32) from Eidgah Srg, male (NA) from Safakadal, male (37) from Baramulla, female (55) from Noorbagh, male (42) from Bemina, female (23) from Alochibagh, male (NA) from Rainawari, male (40) from Rajbagh, male (62) from Hazratbal, male (57) from Bemina, male (60) from Pampore, female (60) from Nishat, male (50) from Nowhara Budgam.

Moreover, they said, 471 more Covid-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals— 183 from Jammu Division and 288 from Kashmir. (GNS)
