DDC elections: 27 PAGD candidates file nomination papers

Srinagar, Nov 12:Twenty seven candidates from the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) Thursday filed their nomination papers for the forthcoming District Development Council (DDC) polls, slated to be held from November 28.

The PAGD, according to the list fielded 27 candidates for the first phase of the polls. The candidates in the fray in phase-I belong to three political parties including National Conference (NC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peoples Conference (PC).
According to the list, 21 candidates belong to National Conference while four are from Peoples Democratic Party. It mentioned that two candidates belong to Peoples Conference.
Meanwhile, PAGD spokesman and PC Chairman, Sajad Gani Lone in a tweet said that all the candidates approved by the alliance have filed their nomination papers.
“PAGD candidates approved for the first phase have already filed their papers. List was conveyed to the parties. I am tweeting this in response to some media reports of the list not having been issued yet,” Lone tweeted.

Pertinently, PAGD, an amalgam of top mainstream leaders unanimously decided to contest the upcoming polls in Jammu and Kashmir unitedly.
Notably, the maiden DDC polls in Jammu and Kashmir will be conducted in eight phases from November 28 while the counting will take place on December 22. (KNO).
