Ganderbal, Nov 1: The unregistered and unprofessional driving institutes are mushrooming in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district from last few months and administration has failed to check it.
Sources said only two driving institutes are registered in the district while several offices are run by different driving institutes.
The vehicles can be seen plying on roads with sign boards of different driving institutes, who have neither any registration nor proper equipments to train an individual.
There are allegations that these driving institutes are making easy money and tell people that they would help them in getting the driving licences without even undergoing trials.
The locals have urged the administration to take action against the mushrooming of the unregistered and unprofessional driving licences.
“The authorities should inspect these institutes to check whether these institutes have got proper and professional trainers and other facilities essential for running a driving institute” they said.
When contacted, ARTO Ganderbal said there are three registered driving institutes in Ganderbal.
“We will take strict action against those who are running driving institutes without registrations and proper equipments,” he said.
The ARTO said if any employee of his department is found indulging in any illegal means, action would be taken against him/them.
