COVID-19: Doctor among 5 more die, 364 test positive in J&K

Srinagar, Oct 26: A doctor was among five more persons who died due to COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir, while 364 more people tested positive for the virus during the past 24 hours, officials said on Monday.
They said that fatality count in the Union Territory due to COVID-19 has mounted to 1445 while total number of cases has risen to 92225.
Officials said that among those who succumbed to the virus include three from Kashmir and two from Jammu division.
Regarding the deaths from the Valley, they said, two belonged to Baramulla and one to Srinagar district.
Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) headed by Dr Suhail Naik said that one doctor, Dr Rajat died of COVID-19.
“He was working as Post Graduate (PG) scholar in Department of Radiology at Govt Medical College (GMC) Jammu.”
Dr Naik said: “Dr Rajat was a frontline COVID warrior who contracted Covid 19 while on duty and was admitted in Intensive Care Unit(ICU) of GMC Jammu as he could not maintain oxygen saturation due to bilateral pneumonia but finally lost the battle of life early morning today”.
He said said that Dr Rajat was a true martyr as he without caring for consequences of contracting the Covid 19 maintained the hippocratic oath and served his patients.
With these deaths, the fatality count has reached 964 in Valley and 481 in Jammu region.
Srinagar district with 346 deaths tops the list followed by Jammu (249), Baramulla (143), Budgam (92), Pulwama (80), Kupwara (71), Anantnag (74), Kulgam (46), Bandipora(45), Rajouri (46), Doda (45), Shopian (35), Ganderbal (32), Kathua (30), Udhampur (29), Samba (25), Poonch (23), Kishtwar(14), Ramban (13), and Reasi (7). J&K reports 364 new cases, tally at 92225
Meanwhile, 29 travelers were among 364 new COVID-19 cases reported in last 24 hours in Jammu and Kashmir, taking the total count to 92225.
Among the fresh cases, officials told said that 147 were reported from Jammu Division and 217 from Kashmir Valley.
Giving district wise details, they said, Srinagar reported 76 cases, Budgam 13, Baramulla 56, Pulwama 15, Kupwara 25, Anantnag 7, Bandipora 5, Ganderbal 13, Kulgam 1, Shopian 6, Jammu 108,
Rajouri 0, Udhampur 4, Doda 6, Kathua 5, Poonch 10, Samba 2, Kishtwar 0, Ramban 7 and Reasi 5.
Among the cases, many were confirmed at CD hospital’s diagnostic laboratory and include male (58) (NA) from Habbakadal, male (70) (NA) from Sonwar, male (70) (NA) from Khaniyar, male (79) (NA) from Budgam, male (40) (NA) from Noorbagh, female (30) (NA) from Soura, female (34) (NA) from Sonwar, female (30) (NA) from Pulwama, male (62) (NA) from Nishat sgr, female (73) (NA) from Buchpora sgr, female (65) (NA) from Humhama Budgam, male (45) (NA) from Bemina Sgr, male (67) and, female (32) from Drangbal Pampore, male (80, 37, 37) and female (34, 65, 17) from Tahab, male (37) from Malikpora Tahab, male (38) from Payer, female (48) from Tral, female (80) from Khanjinag, female (18) from Khanjinag and female (50) from Khanjinag.
Moreover, they said, 627 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals— 229 from Jammu Division and 398 from Kashmir. (GNS)
