Ganderbal, Oct 20: The poor non-COVID patients in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district are being pushed to the wall as the authorities at District Hospital as per the locals have been asking the patients to visit other hospitals for treatment.

The locals said the DH Ganderbal was declared COVID hospital and all the non-COVID patients are being asked to visit other hospitals for the treatment.

Even after the Advisor to Governor Baseer Ahmad Khan during his recent visit directed to shift COVID positive patients to Navodaya Vidyalaya School Quarantine center, the hospital administration is still putting all the virus affected patients in the hospital and all leaving the non-covid patients to lurch at large.

“Medical facilities like General Surgery, Ophthalmic, Dental, General Lab Testing and Ultrasound should be restored at the DH so that the poor patients could heave a sigh of relief,” a local resident said.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal has also written to the concerned authorities regarding the restoration of medical facilities at DH Ganderbal.

He stated that people are demanding restoration of all general medical facilities that were earlier provided to patients normally prior to covid-19. “About the sake and conveniences for our people, we wrote a letter to Directorate of Health Services Kashmir and Divisional Commissioner Kashmir about the refurbishment of DH Ganderbal, which is presently a covid care center,” he said.

Furthermore, he added that “we have looking forward to justifying reply from approaching authorities, and at the earliest we will resume the normal functioning of the DH for the convenience to our people of Ganderbal district,” he added. (KNO)
