With COVID-19 SOPs in place, Sunday market reopens in Srinagar after 8 months

 

Srinagar, Oct 18 : In an effort to revive the economic activities, the weekly Sunday market reopened on Sunday in Lal chowk area of Srinagar city after a gap of 08 months with COVID-19 SOPs in place.

Witnesses told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) as part of the protective measures, vendors were seen wearing face masks.

“The six-feet distance was also maintained between the stalls as the authorities allowed the market to reopen amid COVID-19 pandemic,” witnesses said.

One of the vendor Nisar Ahmad told KNO that they are very happy that the market has been re-opened after a gap of 08 months as they have suffered losses due to the closure if this market.

The vendors thanked the Srinagar administration for allowing them to set up stalls as their livelihood is dependent on Sunday market.
