Fatalities near 1300 mark; total cases at 81793

Srinagar, Oct 8: A 30-year-old man was among nine more people who died due to COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir during the past 24-hours, while 696 more people tested positive for the virus in the Union Territory, officials said on Thursday.
They said that fatality count due to virus has risen to 1293, while 81793 people have tested positive for the COVID-19 in J&K till date.
Officials said that COVID-19 has killed 884 in Kashmir and 409 people in Jammu since the outbreak of pandemic in March this year.
Officials said that seven people died in Jammu Division today while two died in Kashmir.
Giving the details of the victims, who died due to COVID-19 today, officials said, they include a 40-year-old from Mendhar Poonch, a 50-year-old man from Galote Udhampur, a 65-year-old from R S Pura, a 90-year-old from Talab Tillo Jammu and a 30-year-old from Trikuta Nagar.
Srinagar district with 310 deaths tops the list followed by Jammu (212), Baramulla (126), Budgam (89), Pulwama (73), Kupwara (71), Anantnag (69), Kulgam (43), Bandipora(41), Rajouri (39), Doda (38), Shopian (32), Ganderbal (30), Kathua (28), Samba (24), Udhampur (22), Poonch (18), Ramban (11), Kishtwar(11) and Reasi (6).
J&K reports 696 new cases
Meanwhile, 696 more people tested positive for COVID-19 in J&K on Thursday thus taking the total count to 81793.
Among the cases, 276 were from Jammu Division and 420 from Kashmir, officials told GNS.
Giving district wise breakup of the cases, they said Srinagar reported 186, Budgam 52, Baramulla 71, Pulwama 22, Kupwara 15, Anantnag 21, Bandipora 18, Ganderbal 24, Kulgam 7, Shopian 4, Jammu 89, Rajouri 34, Udhampur 17, Doda 10, Kathua 43, Poonch 47, Samba 11, Ramban 8, Kishtwar 15 and Reasi 2.
A number of these cases were confirmed at CD and SKIMS diagnostic labouratories including 21 security forces personnel, five minors and two doctors.
