COVID-19: Mother, son among 17 more die, 738 fresh cases in J&K  

 

Death toll rises to 1272, 80,476 test positive till date

Srinagar, Oct 6: A mother-son duo besides two persons in mid 20s and a 38-year-old man were among 17 persons who succumbed to COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir in last 24-hours, while as 738 more people tested positive for the virus, officials said on Tuesday.
They said that death toll in J&K has mounted to 1272, while 80476 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Union Territory till date.
Officials while giving the details of the victims who died today said a 75-year-old woman and her 34-year-old son from Dalgate died at CD hospital here, days after they were admitted there, one of the exclusive facilities for the management of COVID-19 patients in Kashmir.
They said that a 54-year-old man from Bolachipora Srinagar, who was admitted on September 11, died at SKIMS Soura.
They said that a 65-year-old man from Batamallo Srinagar who was admitted to SKIMS Soura on October 2 died at the hospital.
A 45-year-old woman from Aalikadal Srinagar who was admitted to the SKIMS Soura hospital on 25 September died this evening. A 74-year-old man from Hazratbal Anantnag also died at tertiary care hospital here, 11 days after he was admitted there.
Also, they said, a 26-year-old man from Kargil died at SKIMS Soura where he was admitted today.
Among others, the other victims from the Valley include a 75-year-old man from Alochibagh Srinagar, a 65-year-old woman from Mir Danter and an 82-year-old from Chogul Handwara.

Among eight fatalities from Jammu includes a 38-year-old from Rehari Jammu, a 25-year-old woman of Simbliwal Jammu and a 46-year-old Jagti Nagrota.

 

With these deaths, 1272 people have succumbed to injuries in Jammu and Kashmir including 877 from Valley and 395 from Jammu.

738 more people test positive, tally crosses 80,000 mark in J&K
Meanwhile, 738 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Jammu and Kashmir in last 24 hours, taking the overall tally over 80000 mark.
Among the cases, officials told GNS 290 were from Jammu Division and 448 from Kashmir Division which takes the overall count to 80476.

Giving district wise breakup, they said, Srinagar reported 183 cases, Budgam 46, Baramulla 37, Pulwama 55, Kupwara 42, Anantnag 22, Bandipora 30, Ganderbal 20, Kulgam 4, Shopian 9, Jammu 91, Rajouri 27,

Udhampur 14, Doda 26, Kathua 18, Poonch 12, Samba 29, Ramban 14, Kishtwar 31 and Reasi 28.
