Budgam Woman’s Alleged Suicide Case: Family members protest, demand action against culprit

Srinagar, Sept 19: The family members of a 37-year-old woman of Charar-i-sharief area in central Kashmir’s Budgam district, who allegedly committed suicide, staged a protest at press colony Srinagar, demanding action against the accused.

The family members alleged that she was killed by her husband and demanded he should be arrested.

Notably, a 37-year-old woman from Namtehal Chadoora took some poisonous substance at her home after which she was rushed to the sub-district hospital Chadoora where she was declared dead.

The family members of the deceased woman while talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that she was married to one Gulam Rasool Wani of Namtehal area of Chadoora eleven years ago but she was being harassed by her in-laws as their greed continued for cash and other things.

“When we reached the sub-district hospital Chadoora she was alive and we asked her what happened to her. She said that she didn’t take poison but was forced by her husband to take the poison,” the family members alleged.

They said that she was unable to tolerate repeated insults inflicted on her by in-laws and finally on Friday morning her husband poisoned her and killed her.

Meanwhile, a police official told KNO that an FIR has already been registered in this regard and further investigation was going on.
