COVID-19: 19 more die, 1590 new cases in J&K

Srinagar, Sep 16: Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday reported nineteen COVID-19 deaths, while 1590 more people tested positive for the deadly virus across the Union Territory, officials said.

They said that fatality count in J&K has risen to 937, while total number of cases has reached to 58244.

Officials said that of 19 deaths witnessed today, eleven victims were residents of Jammu division and eight others from Kashmir Valley.

 

Regarding the fatalities from Jammu, they said, seven were residents of Jammu and one each from Udhampur, Rajouri, Kathua, Samba and Ramban.

 

The victims from Valley include two residents of Srinagar and Kupwara besides one each from Budgam, Bandipora, Shopian and Kulgam districts.

 

Among others, the victims from the valley include a 70-year-old from Nowhatta Srinagar, a 57-year-old woman from Verinag Anantnag, a 40-year-old from Chadoora Budgam, a 28-year-old man from Gund Ibharim Pattan, a man from Shopain and 70-year-old woman from Umer Colony Lal Bazar

 

 

 

The victims among othersĀ  from Jammu region includea 79-year-old man from Swran Vihar Ban Talab Mathi Jammu, a 45-year-old from Nanak Nagar Jammu, a 63-year-old woman from Trikuta Nagar Jammu, a 72-year-old from Nanak Nagar Jammu, a 79-year-old from ban Talab Mathi and a 46-year-old from Gorkha Nagar Jammu.Ā  With these deaths, the fatality count in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 937.

 

 

 

1590 new cases, tally at 58244

 

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir reported 1590 cases of novel coronavirus including 91 travelers, 19 army men, five BSF men, 26 CRPF personnel, two pregnant woman and five minors in last 24 hours, taking the overall tally to 58244.

 

 

 

With 832 cases reported from Jammu region and 758 from Kashmir Valley, this is for the fortnight now that Jammu and Kashmir recorded fresh infections in excess of one thousand daily.

 

 

 

Giving district-wise breakup of the cases, official sources told GNS that Srinagar reported 225 infections, Budgam 119, Baramulla 92, Pulwama 70, Anantnag 37, Kupwara 74, Bandipora 42, Kulgam 13, Ganderbal 86, Jammu 221, Udhampur 44, Rajouri 147, Kathua 80, Samba 39, Poonch 92, Ramban 39,
