India records over 75000 cases, tally at 42,80,423

Fatality count reaches 72,775

New Delhi, Sep 8: India on Tuesday registered a spike of 75,809 new COVID cases during the past 24 hours, while 1,133 more people succumbed to it in the same duration, Health Ministry said.
The spike on Tuesday was lower as compared to the past three days’ over 90 k cases.
Country’s overall tally now stands at 42,80,423, as per the government data.
While the active case load has increased to 8,83,697, fatalities due to the virus have reached 72,775 till date, with 1,133 more people losing their battle to the deadly virus since Monday.
On the brighter side, recoveries have crossed 33 lakh mark reaching 33,23,950 after 73,521 people were cured/discharged.
The recovery rate now stands at 77.65 per cent, while the fatality rate is at 1.70 per cent presently.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), in the past 24 hours, 10,98,621 samples were tested, taking the total tests conducted to 5,06,50,128, till date.
Globally, the United States of America remains at the top spot with over 61 lakh case count so far , followed by India at number two and then Brazil at third spot.
