COVID-19: J&K witnesses biggest jump 1355 cases in a day, 12 more die

Kashmir: 120 contacts of COVID-19 patients traced in Uri

Tally at 45925; death toll mounts to 818

Srinagar, Sep 8: Even as 12 more people died of COVID-19, Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday reported 1355 new cases, the highest single-day count so far, taking its tally to 45925. This was for the sixth running day that the Union Territory witnessed cases exceeding one thousand.
Among the cases including 79 travelers, official sources told GNS that 785 were reported from Jammu division and 570 from Kashmir.

Giving district-wise break, they said, Srinagar reported 210, Baramulla 35, Pulwama 31, Budgam 94, Anantnag 44, Bandipora 32, Kupwara 53, Kulgam 10, Shopian 16, Ganderbal 45, Jammu 483, Rajouri 55, Kathua 31, Udhampur 59, Samba 20, Ramban 7, Doda 35, Poonch 43, Reasi 17and Kishtwar 35.
A number of cases were confirmed at CD and SKIMS diagnostic laboratories including nine Service Provider, four RDD employees, a pregnant woman, 22 cases from BB Cantt, seven minors, five BSF and 12 CRPF personnel.

The Kupwara cases include two males (39, 25) from Tgm Kup, male (45) from DPL Handwara, male (31) from Handwara Kupwara.
The Poonch cases include male (38) from Humhama Arai Mandi Poonch.
The BSF cases include three males (44, 41, 45) and two females (30, 29) from Ch BSF Humhama Srinagar.

The CRPF cases include two males (31, 36) from 79 Bn Crpf Sonwar Srg, male (41) from 184/79 Bn Crpf Sonwar Srg, male (25) from 80/79 Bn Crpf Sonwar Srg, five males (35, 40, 34, 31, 51) from 34/79 Bn Crpf Sonwar Srg, three males (42, 29, 25) from Gc Crpf Rambagh Srinagar.

Moreover, they said, 491 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals— 74 from Jammu Division and 417 from Kashmir Valley.

COVID -19 claims 12 more lives, toll 818
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir reported twelve more COVID-19 related deaths in last 24 hours, taking the fatality count to 818.

Among the deaths, they said, six each were reported from Jammu and Kashmir valley respectively.
Regarding the deaths from the Valley, they said, two victims were residents of Srinagar while one each Anantnag, Kupwara, Pulwama and Kulgam.
The fatalities from Srinagar include a 70-year-old from Tengpora Batamaloo who was admitted on August 24 at SMHS hospital and diagnosed as a case of bilateral community acquired pneumonia (CAP) while other was a 75-year-old Shivpora who was admitted to the hospital on 25th of last month. “both of them died during wee hours,” they said.
A 65-year-old man from Awoora Kupwara, admitted on September 4 as a case of “T2DM, HTN, CKD and bilateral CAP,” also died at a hospital here, they said.
A 36-year-old man from Vailoo kokernag in southern Anantnag district, who was admitted to the hospital on August 20 died at a hospital here, they said and added that the other two victims were from Kulgam and Pulwama districts.
Among others, the victims from Jammu include a 65-year-old woman from Diagiana who was diagnosed with hypertension, bilateral community acquired pneumonia and died at GMC Jammu. Also, a 27-year-old accident victim who was admitted initially at District Hospital Udhampur died at the Govt Medical College Hospital Jammu, they said.
With these deaths, officials said, 818 people have succumbed to the virus in Jammu and Kashmir so far. Among them, they said, 705 were from the Valley while 113 others from Jammu division.
Srinagar district with 242 deaths tops the list followed by Baramulla (108), Budgam (66), Pulwama (60), Anantnag (53), Kupwara (55), Jammu (68), Kulgam (40), Shopian (29), Bandipora (26), Ganderbal (25), Kathua (10), Rajouri (10), Doda (8), Poonch (6), Udhampur (4), Samba (5), Kishtwar and Ramban (1).
