Baramulla, Sept 3: Police traced three teenage boys before they could join militancy in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, official sources said.
They said a report was received by police station Sheeri, Baramulla, that three minors in the age group of 14 year to 15 years had gone missing on Wednesday.
On this information a case FIR no. 47/2020 under section 363 IPC (kidnapping) was registered, sources said.
However, being minors and sensitivity of the matter a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramula headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) headquarter to trace the missing boys.
They said immediately investigation was initiated and after strenuous efforts of the team, utilising human as well as technical support, was able to trace these missing boys within 8 hours .
The boys, who were not identified, were later handed over to their families after counseling by senior officers and completing legal formalities.
