Major dies after truck topples in Ladakh, Army condoles

Srinagar, Sep 2:  All ranks of the India Army on Wednesday condoled the death of Major Dixant Thapa who laid down his life in the service of the nation in Ladakh, a defence ministry spokesman said.

Taking to micro-blogging site on official Twitter Account of Northern Command, he said, “Lt Gen Y K Joshi, Army Commander Northern Command and all ranks offer deepest condolences to the family of Major Dixant Thapa who laid down his life in service to the nation”.

Major Thapa of 6 Mechanized Infantry was seriously injured on August 30 when a truck toppled while loading the BMP (Infantry fighting vehicle )at Karu Kiryari, 45 km from Leh in Ladakh region.

Major Thapa later succumbed, officials said.
