India’s COVID-19 tally crosses 36 lakh-mark, recovery rate stands at 76.63%

New Delhi, Aug 31:  India on Monday clocked a record spike of 78,511 fresh COVID-19 cases and 60,868 recoveries in the past 24 hrs, Union Health Ministry said in its daily update.

With this, the country’s overall tally spiked to 36,21,246 and total number of recoveries to 27,74,801, pushing its recovery rate to 76.63 per cent.

There are a total of 7,81,975 active cases across the peninsular nation.

On the brighter side, the recoveries have exceeded the active cases by 19,92,826 across the nation.

The death toll has also surged to 64,469 with 971 more fatalities added since Sunday, the government data said.

Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has said that it has conducted 8,46,278 tests in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 4,23,07,914 till date.

The country is all set to enter ‘Unlock 4.0’ from September 1, which will allow more activities to be carried out outside of the containment zones.
