COVID-19: Positive cases cross 35 lakh mark in India 

New Delhi, Aug 30: A record surge of 78,761 fresh coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours took India’s Covid tally past 35 lakh, the Union Health Ministry said this morning. This is the highest single-day jump in Covid infections reported by any country since the beginning of the pandemic. The US set the previous record on July 17 with 77,638 daily cases, according to an AFP tally. In the last 24 hours, 948 deaths linked to the highly contagious disease were registered, taking the total number of fatalities to 63,498. About 27 lakh people have recovered so far; the recovery rate stood at 76.6 per cent this morning.
