Srinagar, Aug 15: The driver of an Indian Administrative Officer (IAS) was injured when the service weapon of a SSB jawan went off accidently at Jawahar Nagar in Srinagar on Saturday, official sources said.
They said panic gripped in Government quarters at Jawahar Nagar area of the city when firing was heard today.
It was later learnt that the weapon of a SSB jawan of D-company of 10 Batallion went off accidentally when he was cleaning it.
They said the bullet hit a wall before driver of Director Information and Public Relations (DIPR) Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar sustained injuries. Driver Ghualm Nabi was immediately rushed to SMHS hospital.
An official of DIPR said the condition of Ghulam Nabi is stable. Meanwhile, an inquiry has been ordered, sources said.
