Srinagar, Aug 15: The Political Advisory Council is likely to be constituted in Jammu and Kashmir in coming days and the deliberations in this regard are going on, sources told Precious Kashmir on Saturday.
They said that many politicians would be inducted in the council, which would be headed by the former minister and president of newly formed Jammu Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) Syed Altaf Bukhari.
However, senior JKAP leader, Ghulam Hassan Mir, said, “We have no information about the formation of the government or advisory council in Jammu and Kashmir. We came to know about it through media circles.”
In the meantime the names of some of the leaders who would likely be inducted in the council are also being circulated on social media platforms.
Talking to ‘The Precious Kashmir’, former Deputy Chief Minister of J&K and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Kavinder Gupta, said that the talks are going on. “Yes, the deliberations are on and let’s see what decision will be taken,” he said when asked about the possibility of formation of an Advisory Council in the Union Territory.
Nonetheless, he didn’t share any further details about the formation of the Advisory Council.
Another political leader, who wished not to be named, said that the deliberations in this regard were going on since long, but the delay in announcing the formation of Advisory Council occurred due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
“It would probably take a month or two more to announce the formation of an Advisory Council in Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.
The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir sans a political government since August 2018. On August 05, 2019, Jammu and Kashmir was declared Union Territory and was also bifurcated into two UTs including J&K and Ladakh.
Jammu and Kashmir is currently ruled by the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha led administration.
Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday announced that assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir would be held only after the delimitation process will be completed for which the commission has already been setup.
