New Delhi, Aug 14: The country on Friday registered as many as 64,553 new cases of Novel Coronavirus in the past 24 hours, mounting the tally to 24,61,191.
It also reported 1,007 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the toll to 48,040.
As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, active cases have reached 6,61,595, while the number of discharged or migrated patients was 17,51,556.
This is for the 16 days straight, that the country has reported more than 50,000 cases or more in a single day.
COVID-19 testing continues to grow and 8,48,728 samples were tested on August 13, which is highest in a single day so far.
On a positive note, India’s COVID recovery rate on Friday improved to 71.17 per cent, after 55,573 recoveries were recorded in the past 24 hours.
The fatality rate across the nation has further reduced to 1.95 per cent, the government data added.
