Srinagar, Aug 11: The residents of Assar Sharief Hazratbal is facing frequent interruption of power supply for months now. The residents say that it is the everyday practice of the concerned Power Development department to cut off the electric supply to the Hazratbal area particularly during nights with the reason better known to authorities.

“We are facing a lot of inconvenience due to the non-availability of electricity during these scorching summer days. This irregularity in electric supply is causing obstacles to students for preparation in examinations. The problems of current supply also is dangerous for elderly inhabitants who are suffering from oxygen suffocation problems and require an uninterrupted electricity supply to run the oxygen concentrators during this pandemic,” say locals.

The locals say that despite apprising the concerned officials about this issue, there is no let-up in frequent power cuts.

“We have already sent many written complaints to local authorities. They only provide us with hollow promises and do nothing in this regard. We again appeal authorities to have a kind look into this matter as soon as possible,” added the residents. (CNS)
