Why was lockdown not used to prepare for surge in COVID-19 cases: Omar asks Delhi govt

Srinagar, June 15: Taking a dig at Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for not preparing for a surge in COVID-19 cases during lockdown, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah asked if the Delhi government also buy the propaganda that the curb itself was a cure for Corona.

Taking to micro-blogging site twitter, the vice-president of the J&K National Conference (NC) Omar said “ Which begs the question – what was the lockdown being used for if not to prepare for a surge in cases (as was predicted) or did the Delhi government also buy the propaganda that the lockdown itself was the cure for Corona?.

He was reacting to a news report that Delhi government plans to add 20,000 beds in the city in the next one week, beds to be arranged at hotels, banquet halls.
