27, including 5 doctors, quarantined at Florence, Shifa Hospitals

 

Srinagar, June 4:  At least 27 persons including 5 doctors were quarantined after two pregnant ladies from South Kashmir were operated at Florence and Shifa Hospitals in Srinagar.
Both these pregnant ladies were found positive for COVID-19 after their deliveries. At least 9 health professionals including 3 doctors were quarantined after doctors operated the Covid-19 pregnant lady at Florence Hospital Chanapora here.
Sources told news agency KNT that a pregnant lady from South Kashmir’s Shopian district was admitted at Florence Hospital and operated upon.
The lady was quickly shifted to Covid-19 designated JVC hospital on Thursday morning. “Yes, a lady infected with Covid-19 was brought here,” a doctor told KNT adding that under Covid-19 protocol this is not permissible. There are proper guidelines to test any pregnant woman for Coronavirus before she is admitted in the hospital.
When contacted, authorities at Florence Hospital told KNT that it was an emergency case and doctors had no option but to operate her. “Nine health professionals including three doctors have been quarantined after the incident,” they said.
Meanwhile, similar incident has been reported from Shifa Medical Centre located in Magarmal Bagh Srinagar.
Shortly after a pregnant lady from South Kashmir’s Shopian district delivered a baby in the Operation Theater, attendants received a phone call that her test for COVID-19 has been found positive. This created panic there as a result 18 persons including two doctors were quarantined.

Director Shifa Medical Centre, Dr Gulzar said that a surgeon got a pregnant lady from Shopian admitted in the hospital. “It was an emergency case. The lady gave birth to a baby and shortly after the delivery, we came to known the lady has been found positive. Eighteen persons including the surgeon who had brought this lady to the hospital were quarantined,” he said.  (KNT)
