Srinagar, June 3: At a time when authorities are urging upon people to maintain social distancing norms while police face tough time in implementing lock-down, Bhartiya Janata Party is overruling all the directions and violating all rules by convening political meetings, joining functions, arranging wazwan in different parts of Kashmir Valley.
Reports said that BJP district president Kulgam, Abid Khan Ignorined all Covid-19 norms and arranged two meetings at Watihal Qazigund and Chowgam Kulgam. BJP workers were seen mingling with one another while none of the workers was seen wearing any mask.
Sources told news agency KNT that it has become a routine for BJP to organize meetings in this pandemic. A post on social media had gone viral where BJP workers in Sumbal Bandipora area were seen attending a joining function without wearing masks on faces. “Who is allowing these BJP workers to hold these meetings in this pandemic,” asked a local.
In YK Pora, Kulgam BJP leader Sofi Yousuf held a meeting that was attended by a large number of BJP workers. Jawahar Nagar based BJP office also held a meeting recently in violation of government orders.
Taking strong note of the meeting organized by BJP in Watihal Qazigund, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Dooru Ghulam Rasool on the directions of Deputy Commissioner directed SHO Police Station Qazigund to register and FIR against the house owners where meetings took place. “I have directed the SHO concerned to register and FIR and action will follow. Nobody is above and nobody will be allowed to violate the government orders,” SDM said adding that a team visited the meeting venues and dismantled the tents raised for serving wazwan.
The meeting at Watihal Qazigund according to sources was held in the house of one Ashraf Rather son of Akram Rather and at Chowgam Kulgam it was held in the house of Farooq Parray son of Rehman Parray.
Pertinent to mention here is that recently, Deputy Commissioner Jammu directed the police to lodge an FIR against former Tourism Minister and BJP leader and former MLA’s of Jammu for violating the norms of lockdown.
News Agency KNT talked to Government Spokesperson Rohit Kansal and Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Pandurang Konbarao Pole who both said that strict action will be taken against BJP workers who violated norms in this lockdown. (KNT)
