Meanwhile, life in Uttar Pradesh returned to near-normal on the first day of Unlock-1 with offices and shops almost fully functional and vehicular traffic back on the road.

Government and private offices have started at full throttle while shops were functional from 0900 hrs. The life line of the public transport system, UPSRTC buses started plying from 0800 hrs in the morning and several inter district buses have started their journey with limited passengers after thorough health checking.

In Tamil Nadu, life started limping back to normalcy, as more number of vehicles plied on the road, including autos, taxis and cabs. A majority of the shops were open across the city, including leading textile and jewellery chains.

All banks, central and state government government offices functioned along with private firms and IT and ITES companies. Saloons and beauty parlours–without AC–also started functioning.

In Karnataka, Dakshina Kannada Bus Operators’ Association decided to operate only a few buses, to begin with, and increase the number of buses depending on the demand. However, passenger response has been poor since morning.
