Hideout found under Govt official’s shop, Police register case

Pulwama, May 23: Police registered a case against a government official here in south Kashmir on Saturday after security forces claimed to have found a hideout in a shop owned by him.
Official sources told KNT that soldiers from 44 Rashtriya Rifles and Special Operation Group personnel from Jammu Kashmir Police searched the house of a Naib Tehsildar in Pulwama. The search party claimed that it found an underground militant hideout under one of the shops owned by the official.
A police official while confirming the incident said that a formal FIR vide number 39/2020 under section 18, 19, 39 has been registered at Police Station Rajpora. He, however said that investigation is going on and no arrests have been made so far.
Asked what has been recovered from the hideout, he said the hideout has been found and it was used by militants.
Divulging information about the Naib Tehsildar in question, police sources said that he is paternal uncle of slain militant Liyaqat Ahmad Wani of Belov Rajpora and also one of his brothers namely Muneer Ahmad Wani was also a militant, who was killed in a gunfight in 1996.
