United News of India
New Delhi, May 3: The Union Home Ministry on Sunday clarified that the exemption granted for movement of people from buses and trains from one state to another is only for stranded people and not for those who are otherwise residing normally at places other than native places for purpose of work and wish to visit their native place in normal course.

The Union Home Secretary has written a letter to the Chief Secretaries of all states and Union Territories that in view of the complete ban, movement of people from one state to another via bus and rail is allowed only for people stranded in other states.

After going to work in another state, people residing there temporarily, cannot avail this facility to come to their state normally.

The Home Secretary has clarified that this facility is only for stranded migrant workers, devotees, tourists, students and other stuck people.

Generally, people coming to their home state cannot take advantage of the exemption.

The Home Secretary requested the governments of states and the UTs to facilitate the movement of such distressed stranded people as allowed under MHA orders.

In the orders issued on April 29 and May 1, the Union Home Ministry had relaxed the guidelines related to the complete ban, that special buses and trains would be run to bring back the stranded people.
