3 end lives in Jammu

Doda, Apr 13: At least three persons ended their lives in Jammu region by allegedly committing suicide at separate places in the region on Monday.

According to KNO, a man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself with a tree in Kalihand area of Doda district on Monday afternoon, police said.

Official source said that the man (name withheld) of Kalihand, hanged himself in the seasonal Muddy house at Kalihand near forests. “He had died on the spot,” sources said.

After completion of medico-legal formalities, the body was handed over to his relatives for last rites.

In a separate incident, another man allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the Chenab River in Doda district of Jammu, police said.

A person identified as Rafiq Ahmad jumped into the river near his residence at Sekwan from Ganpat Bridge, officials said, adding that the efforts are on to fish out the body.

In third incident, Neelma Devi (40) allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself inside her house at Barana village on Sunday, the official said.

Station House Officer (SHO) Doda, Muneer Ahmad Khan told—KNO that in all the three incidents, inquest proceedings under 174 CrPC has been initiated at concerned police station.
