New Delhi, Apr 6: With a spike in fresh cases since last evening, confirmed cases of Novel Coronavirus in the country on Monday crossed the 4,000 mark with the number standing at 4067, according to Health Ministry data.
According to the Health Ministry, the active cases have risen by 447, since Sunday evening and stands at 3666.
The death toll stands at 109, with 23 fresh deaths reported since Sunday evening.
There was also an increase in the number of cured and discharged cases as compared to last evening with
17 more cured, with total cured cases at 291 across the country.
With continued spike in the cases since a couple of days, the Maharashtra was worst affected state of the country as 690 affected cases and 45 deaths were recorded due to the infection, followed by Tamil Nadu with the count at 571 and five casualties.
Delhi stands at number three, with 503 cases and seven deaths.
Health Ministry Joint Secretary Lav Agarwal had said that positive cases related to Tablighi Jamaat have been reported from 17 states and Union Territories, and the travel by the ones who attended or their contacts were one of the main reasons behind the spike in COVID-19 positive numbers.
These include Delhi, Maharashtra, Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Andaman & Nicobar, Rajasthan and Arunachal Pradesh.
Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan were among those states where the numbers have rapidly spiked in the past four-five days.
