Srinagar, Apr 1:Â Doctors and other members of the medical fraternity, who are at the forefront of fighting a war against the COVID-19 in Kashmir, are braving all odds to save the precious human lives.
According to the media reports, doctors are alleging that they have been provided sub-standard protective gears and much is not being done to keep them safe. On the other hand the people who have been put under quarantine in different hospitals and centers are claiming that they are not being treated properly and doctors are trying to keep themselves away from the COVID-19 positive patients. “This is not the time for us to fight with each other and level allegations. The only way to fight this deadly virus is to cooperate with each other and allow doctors to do their job,” an observer told Precious Kashmir.
Recently, a doctor from Jammu tested positive for COVID-19. Soon after the test result of the doctor came, the Head of Department of Microbiology of Government Medical College Jammu, according to a section of press, said that the doctor was not a part of the team handling Coronavirus patients. The HoD had to retract from her statement after the duty roster of the doctors went viral on the social media. The roster clearly mentioned that the doctor, who tested positive for COVID-19, was head of the testing team for a week.
There were reports that a few doctors on Tuesday staged protest at Bemina in Srinagar against the alleged failure of the authorities to provide them with the protective gear.
An analyst said, “The COVID-19 has swept the entire world and has brought most of the activities on planet earth to halt. The doctors in countries like China, Italy, United States, United Kingdom and Spain are trying their best to save the precious human lives. But they are being provided with all the facilities. Even in Uttar Pradesh and New Delhi the State Governments have hired 5-star hotels to keep the doctors safe and sound. Everyone is aware about the fact the battle against Coronavirus cannot be won without the doctors.”
He said, “In Kashmir doctors are not demanding accommodation in 5-star hotels they are asking for protective gear and cooperation from the patients. And what they are asking for is no big deal. The COVID-19 virus has become very active in Kashmir and it cannot be controlled by fighting with each other.” Â
