Over 200 CRPF men quarantined in Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 27: An in house alert has been sounded in the ranks of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) across Kashmir in the wake of fast spreading Covid-19 with at least 200 CRPF men quarantined in their respective units across Kashmir.

The CRPF men have been asked to take extra precautions and to ensure social distancing is maintained in each unit across the Valley.

“We have asked our men to stay alert and to maintain highest level of hygiene in each unit across Kashmir,” said CRPF spokesman in Srinagar, Pankaj Singh.
He said that many “jawans have been quarantined” in their respective units in the Valley. “In my unit alone, 27 CRPF men have been put under quarantine,” he said.

Another CRPF official told KINS that each unit across Kashmir has a separate 10-bed ward where jawans with symptoms are being quarantined. “So far, there is no positive case, which is a good sign. But we are not taking any chances,” the official said, adding that “We are taking all precautions and morning evening lectures/briefings which otherwise is mandatory, have been cancelled.”
Asked how many CRPF men have been put under quarantine across Kashmir, he said, “Approximately 200 or above have been put in isolation wards.”

The CRPF has already cancelled both ways travel and leaves of its men already on leave. “Those already on leave, can avail further leave up to 15 days and those who intend to go for leave can’t avail the leave in view of the Covid-19,” the official said.

He said that all sorts of travel has been minimized and only mandatory and emergency travel is being allowed and permitted across Kashmir.
The official said personal interactions and having food jointly in canteen too has been stopped while as force personnel are being asked to have food one by one while maintaining the distance. KINS
