COVID19: Authorities launch ‘Talaash’ website, asks people to self-report, report others

Srinagar: The Srinagar administration on Friday launched a new website ‘Talaash’, which enables people to self-report or report students and travelers who have concealed their travel history to Coronavirus affected countries.

The development comes days after authorities asserted that people are not disclosing their travel history. Around 150 persons, who were hiding travel histories, have been so far traced and put into quarantine.

Four more persons, including two with international travel history, were on Friday tested positive for Coronavirus in Kashmir valley, bringing the total number of infected people to 13.

“Students and travelers, having travel history of Covid-19 affected countries, other affected areas of the country and have not declared their travel history till date must report their travel history to local health authorities/COVID-19 helpline Numbers or through this Website/App Immediately,” read the text on the website.

“Family members, neighbours and people in gen-eral are appealed to bring such cases in notice of the administration through this Website/App, so that necessary measures in the interest of public health can be taken by the Govt,” it added.

“Self-report or tell us about others. #Coronavirus #Srinagar Let’s help each other and #BreakingTheChain,” Deputy Commissioner Shahid Iqbal Choudhary twitted alongwith the address of the website.

“Control Room traced 152 undeclared cases of perons returned from UAE, Iran,Hungary,Taiwan,Malysia, Combodia, Italy,Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Malaysia,Kazakhstan. Put under quarantine.We continue to request people to come forward and self-report. Help docs,Urself,family & society,” he said.
