New Delhi, Mar 24: The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 519 on Tuesday evening, the Health Ministry said.
As per the government data, the number of active cases in the country are 470.
According to the health ministry, there have been nine deaths due to the deadly virus so far, while a total of 36 persons have been cured, discharged. One person has migrated, the government further said.
Earlier on Monday the government said that a total of 20 states and the Union Territories have been completely locked-down in the country.
The government permitted 12 private lab chains across the country for coronavirus testing that have around 15,000 collection centres across the nation.
Joint Secretary Ministry of Health Lav Agarwal in a press conference had informed that Chandigarh, Delhi, Goa, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan , Uttarakhand, Nagaland , West Bengal, Ladakh, Jharkhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Tripura, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh have been placed under complete lockdown. Punjab and Maharashtra have already imposed curfew to contain the spread of deadly virus.
According to Union Health Ministry, till Monday, Maharashtra had reported the highest 74 cases, including three foreigners, followed by Kerala at 67, including seven foreign nationals. (UNI)
