Anantnag Admin recommends sealing of alternate routes to Valley

Anantnag: The district administration Anantnag on Wednesday recommended sealing of the alternate routes to Valley from Jammu to ensure that no one visiting Kashmir will go unscreened.
This comes a day after and in response to the news carried out by the wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) titled ‘Hundreds enter Kashmir without screening as drivers take alternate routes’.Many people have reached Kashmir without screening as the drivers who were ferrying them from Jammu had taken alternate routes to reach Valley and had evaded screening.
In the meantime, the district administration Anantnag issued an order under number DCA/MISC/1634-40, dated 18-03-2020, wherein it recommended the sealing of the alternative routes.
“With reference to the subject, this is to inform that a screening centre has been established at Zig (Lower Munda) along national highway in view of COVID-19 outbreak, which is operational 24*7 for compulsory screening of the people entering into the Valley,” it reads.
“It has been learnt that some of the passenger vehicles attempt to avoid compulsory screening and escape through lateral routes connecting. As such, it is requested to seal the twin lateral routes connection national highway to Verinag area at Omah and Zig by ensuring adequate,” it added.
Meanwhile, in separate order, the district administration Anantnag ordered imposition of section 144 CrPc across the district in wake of the deadly coronavirus.“Whereas, COVID19 had been declared as pandemic by World Health Organization (WHO). It has affected several countries of the world wherein few cases have also been spotted in India,” the order issued under number 17/DMA/19, dated 18-03-2020.“Whereas, necessary precautions with regard to prevention and control of NOVEL CORONA VIRUS (COVID-19) have already been undertaken by the District Administration in co-ordination with Police and Health authorities; and COVID-19 has pattern of transmission of rapid rate, in case prescribed preventive protocols including avoiding mass gathering etc. are not strictly followed,” it added.
“Now, therefore in view of the above mentioned facts, I, Bashir Ahmad Dar, KAS, District Magistrate Anantnag in exercise of the powers vested in the under section 144 of Cr.P.C do hereby impose restriction/ban over the assembly/gathering of more than 05 persons at any public place of entire Anantnag District which includes all towns and villages with immediate effect for a period of one month,” reads the order, a copy of which lies with.Any violation of this order by any person shall invite action under IPC, the order added—(KNO)
