Nazir Laway meets PM Modi in New Delhi

Srinagar: Member of Rajya Sabha Nazir Ahmad Laway on Monday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and demanded early release of PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti and others.
According Laway who was recently shunted out from PDP over violating the principle stand of party over Article-370, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and discussed several key issues pertaining to Jammu and Kashmir politics.
Sources said, Laway during the meet raised the detention of PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti, Omar Abdullah and others and demanded early release of mainstream political leaders who had been taken into ‘preventive detention’ by authorities since August 5, 2019 when central government abrogated Article-370 and downgraded the erstwhile state into two Union Territories – Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
Sources added during the meeting, PM Modi heard Laway patiently and assured him that central government will take concrete steps in days to come for the benefit of strengthening democratic set-up in J&K. (KNS).
