JAMMU, MARCH 13- The 165th Board meeting of the J&K Services Selection Board was held here today under the Chairmanship of Khalid Jahangir, Chairman, J&K SSB.
The meeting was attended by the Members of the Board including M.Shafiq Chak, Pritam Lal Atri, Harvinder Kour, Prof. Tasleema Peer, Controller of Examination JKSSB Musheer Ahmad Mirza, Special Secretary (Legal) Jung Bhadur and Secretary, JKSSB Ranjeet Singh besides other officers of the Board.
During the meeting, extensive discussions were held on various issues which inter alia included selection of Naib Tehsildars, matter lying subjudice before the High Court in the wake of number of writ petitions filed by various candidates in this regard.
Pertinently, the High Court has dismissed all the writ petitions so filed in its judgement dated 10th March, thereby upholding the stand of the Board in relation to the procedure adopted for preparing the select list. In the said backdrop, the matter was placed before the Board for consideration and appropriate decision. The Board after considering all the relevant aspects including the judgement passed by the High Court, resolved to publish the select list prepared on the basis of the merit obtained by the candidates in the written examination and interview. It was also decided that two vacancies shall be kept reserved in pursuance of the orders of the High Court in SWP Nos. 2395/2018 and 939/2018.
It would be relevant to add that the Services Selection Board vide Notification No. 01 of 2015 Dated: 07/04/2015 advertised 155 posts of Naib Tehsildars. 1,01,077 candidates applied for the aforementioned 155 Posts of Naib tehsildars, out of which 62,789 candidates appeared in the written examination. On the basis of the marks obtained by the candidates in the written examination, 873 candidates were shortlisted for interview. In the meanwhile, a number of candidates approached the High Court challenging therein various aspects of the selection procedure adopted by the Board, including for testing working knowledge of Urdu of the candidates.
In addition, the Board also considered a few other agenda items including representations regarding the post of Technician for Animal operation under item no. 22, GMC Rajouri. The Board agreed to dispose of all the agenda items in accordance with the extant norms.
