Govt Suspends FCS&CA Officer  

Srinagar: Government on Thursday ordered suspension of Incharge Assistant Director Baramulla in connection the missing of truckloads of rice in the north Kashmir district last year. The government action follows less than a week a report, highlighting that seven truckloads of rice were dispatched from peg Baramulla to Hygam for distribution among people in circle-D in December last year but failed to reach the destination.

“Pending enquiry into the matter and as reported by Director ,FCS&CA Kashmir about the misappropriation/ missing of truck loads to the tune of 633.00 (Quintals) of rice read with further shortage/ missing of missing of food against of 362.00 (Quintals ) of rice at Baramulla, it is hereby ordered that Mushtaq Ahmad Wani.I/c Assistant Director  Baramulla is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect in order to ensure fair investigation in the matter,” reads an order Secretary Panduarang K Pole, Secretary to the Government.

During the period of suspension, the officer shall remain attached in the Directorate of FCS&CA Kashmir till further order, it added.

Secretary Panduarang K Pole said strict action will be taken against anyone who indulges in acts prohibited under law. “We have made the system transparent and whosoever is dealing in such acts would not be spared and action as provided under law will be taken,” he said. Meanwhile, sources said that many district officers are under radar and they are likely to face action in coming days.

As reported earlier, 7 trucks loaded with rice were dispatched from peg Baramulla to Hygam granary in the month of December last year.

Accordingly on 31 December, 2019 the challan was made by the officials at Hygam and the same trucks were dispatched to ‘Baramulla D Circle’. However, sources said, the authorities at Baramulla D circle denied to have received the trucks loads with the rice.

Besides, these 7 trucks, four more trucks loaded with rice were said to have been sold by the officials of Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs against fake challans etc.
