TANGMARG, MARCH 09: The three-day Information and Communication Technology (ICT) based teaching and learning workshop concluded here at Government Degree College Tangmarg
The workshop was inaugurated by the College Principal Prof. (Dr.) Yasmeen Farooq with an aim to foster greater interest in high-tech implication in teaching and learning, and also to familiarize the participants with the latest technologies used in higher education.
The three-day sessions were attended by 30 students of different semesters as well as by the faculty.
The workshop included a combination of lectures, technical sessions, and also practical training of the participants by a number of resource persons including Tariq Abdullah (Producer, EMMRC, University of Kashmir), Prof. Audil Hussain (Senior Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Applications, GCW Nawa Kadal, Srinagar) and Prof. Qurat-ul-Ain (Assistant Professor, P.G. Department of Computer Applications, GCW MA Road, Srinagar).
The workshop revolved around the practice of different teaching-learning aids in classrooms and also the use of ICT in managing different knowledge processes from knowledge generation to its dissemination. The workshop focused on different characteristics of know-how which include e-content development using MOOCs like SWAYAM, Coursera etc. and also upon the use of different software/applications like Microsoft PowerPoint, Google forms, Google drive, in various educational processes.
Dr. Rana Hashmy, Scientist (Department of Computer Science, University of Kashmir) was the Chief Guest at the valedictory function. She threw light on the present scenario of higher educational institutes and highlighted the ways technology plays a great role in knowledge storage and broadcasting.
Dr. Hashmy also delved on the use of diverse machinery in assisting the specially-abled users while catering to their knowledge needs. She also emphasized how current technologies give teachers the freedom to select, mix and match digital tools in order to meet the needs of students’ and institutional goals.
