Div Com reviews progress on construction of bunkers

JAMMU, MARCH 05: Divisional Commissioner, Sanjeev Verma today directed Deputy Commissioners of Border districts and executing agencies to expedite the pace of work on construction of bunkers for their timely completion.

The Div Com passed these directions while chairing a meeting of DCs of border districts to review the progress on construction of bunkers and other related issues in Jammu Division.

The Deputy Commissioners apprised the Div Com about the progress of works on under construction individual and community bunkers in their respective districts.

It was informed that 6581 bunkers have been completed so far across the border districts, including 5867 individual bunkers and 714 community bunkers.

It was informed that 1387 bunkers, including community and individual bunkers, have been completed in district Samba, 974 in district Jammu, 1249 in district Kathua, 2254 in district Rajouri and 717 in district Poonch. It was further informed that remaining bunkers are also at different stages of construction. The concerned officers informed about the number of bunkers at foundation level, superstructure level, and slab level.

The Div Com directed the DCs to closely monitor the construction and direct the executing agencies to adhere to the timeline for completion.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Director Planning, Chaman Lal; Chief Planning Officers, Jammu, Joginder Katoch; besides executive engineers of executing agencies. The Deputy Commissioners, Kathua, Samba, Rajouri, Poonch along with concerned officers attended the meeting through video conferencing.

Earlier, in another meeting the Div Com reviewed progress on land acquisition cases of Border Road Organisation (BRO).

The Deputy Commissioner apprised the Div Com about the status of each case. The Div Com sought details of each land acquisition case and directed the DCs to expedite the process of acquisition and issue pending final awards at the earliest.

Meanwhile, the Div Com also discussed the issues related to West Pakistani Refugees and inquired about the progress on identification and verification of WPR families.

The District administration Jammu, Samba and Kathua apprised the Div Com about number of camps conducted in their respective districts for identification of WPR families and also shared the details of in process files. The Div Com directed district administration Jammu, Samba and Kathua to complete the process of identification /verification at the earliest.
