PDC employees demand pensionery benefits, arrears

Srinagar: Power Development Corporation (PDC) Monday staged a protest demanding pensionery benefits to them. They said since 2012, they were deprived of their pensions for the reasons better known to the government.

The protesting permanent employees from PDC assembled here in Press Enclave Srinagar and stage a protest under the banner of ‘Kashmir Electrical Employees and Workers Association’ and said that PDC came into being in 1989 and till 2012 employees were given persionery benefits but from last 8 years, no pernionery benefits are given to them.

“Even Law Department gave an opinion in our favour urging upon the government to given pensionery benefits to us, but the file is still pending at Finance Department which till date has not taken any decision in this regard,” said Nazir Ahmed to Kashmir News Trust.

He said that those employees who were appointed in the Corporation since 1989 should be given pensionery benefits.

The protesters also alleged that they were yet to receive arrears that are due to them under 7th Pay Commission. “Every department has been given these arrears. We are still waiting for these arrears,” said another protesting employee Muhammad Latif Mir.

The protesters said that there are no rules and norms in the Corporation. “PDD owes at least Rs 3000 crores to PDC but PDC being the headless since 2018 is unable to take up the case and recover the said amount from the Power Development Corporation,” they said adding that last time it was in 2018 when PDC had its own Managing Director
