SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 26: Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Mayor, Junaid Azim Mattu today called for surveying of city drainage networks.
In this regard, the Mayor convened a meeting of officers to review the functioning of the department.
The meeting discussed various drainage projects, besides revenue status, building permissions, implementation of Swachh Baharat Mission, smart city and Solid Waste Management.
The Mayor stressed the need for decentralization of building permissions and said that such process should be initiated at ward levels to save the time of applicant.
He also stressed for digitization of building permission records and said that initiatives are required to dovetail technology and logistic support to provide the services at applicant’s door steps.
The Mayor directed the Superintended Engineer Drainage to conduct a survey of existing drainage network in Srinagar city, besides coming up with a list of optimally functional and chocked drains.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner SMC, Gazanfer Ali, Joint Commissioner Admn, Syed Abul Kasim, Joint Commissioner Works, Ishtitak Ahmad Shah, Joint Commissioner Planning, Ghulam Hasan Mir, S.E Drainage Deewan Chand and other concerned.
