Srinagar: A woman drug peddler was arrested and contraband substance recovered in central Kashmir district of Ganderbal, a police spokesman said on Tuesday evening.
He said Ganderbal Police arrested a woman drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from her possession.
While investigating the case FIR number 06/2020 of Police Station Kangan, Ganderbal, officers learnt about the involvement of another woman in drug peddling.
Police had earlier arrested a woman for drug related offences and she happens to be the sister of this lady.
Subsequently, the woman drug peddler was arrested by Ganderbal police. Contraband substances including 800 grams of charas powder, 520 grams of charas and 14 liters of illicit liquor was recovered during investigation.
Officers investigating the case also learnt that both the woman drug peddlers were involved in selling drugs to the youth of Kangan, Ganderbal.
Notably, 400 grams of charas and Rs 4,22,750 believed to be the proceeds of narcotic crime has been recovered in this case. Further investigation into the case is going on.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
