Bandipora : Almost a month on, Sumbal subdivision of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district is still functioning without Sub-Divisional Magistrate, thereby hampering smoothing functioning and official work of the Sub-division.
According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Sumbal subdivision is functioning without SDM since January 31 this year.
Sources said that after the superannuation of then SDM on 31st January this year, authorities have not been able to fill the vacant yet. “Due to the absence of SDM in the subdivision for almost a month now, the official work has got badly hit, thereby hampering the smooth functioning,” they said.
They said that the many official works which need approval of the SDM are pending since 31st January and the local populace have to bear the brunt as they are made to run from pillar to post in absence of the SDM, which is the highest administrative chair in a subdivision.
“We have to suffer a lot in absence of SDM since almost a month as the authorities shave failed to fill the vacancy when then then SDM got retired. We have go to district headquarters Bandipora for even a small official work as some officer in the district has been given the additional charge of the post, ” said Ghulam Rasool, a local resident of Sumbal.
He said that the officer sits in mini-secretariat Bandipora and hardly visits the Sumbal subdivision, which has made the matters worse for the people of the area. The residents appealed the Lt. Governor Girish Chander Murmu to personally look into the matter and appoint the SDM in order to address their grievances.
An official said that due to the absence of the SDM smooth functioning of the government offices in the subdivision has got badly hit as there is no-one to take care of the affairs here.
As per—KNO, similarly, posts of naib Tehsildar in Kosum Bagh, Hakbara and Gulshanpora, Naidkhai are also vacant from past several months. The post of Tehsildar in Hajin is also vacant and the additional charge has been given to Tehsildar Ajas, which has affected the smooth functioning in Tehsil Hajin.
A senior official of the district told KNO that they have already intimated the higher authorities about the issue and hopefully, the issue would be addressed soon — (KNO)
Former Chief Engineer PDD’s husband ‘murdered’ in Jammu
Investigation started, says police; relatives demand SIT to be constituted
Srinagar : Advocate Riyaz Ahmad Buchh, the husband of former Chief Engineer Power Development Department (PDD), Shahnaz Goni was allegedly murdered at his home in Greater Kailash area in Jammu on Monday.
According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), relatives of Goni said that Advocate Riyaz who was doing private practice in Jammu court was allegedly killed by some unknown persons who have also decamped with some belongings including Advocate’s vehicle in Jammu.
They said that Goni is presently in USA to attend the marriage ceremony of her relative while his son is also in Goa, adding that the slain also has one daughter who lives at her husband’s house in Jammu district.
Relatives further told—KNO that Advocate’s daughter who yesterday met him at his home said ‘he was alright when she met him yesterday’.
However, they said that in this morning, some of the relatives visited him, but, nobody opened the door. “After managing to open the door, the relatives found Advocate Riyaz dead with several marks on his body, giving a presumption that he has been murdered,” relatives said.
They further said that the CCTV storage has also been destroyed while the belongings of the family including his car is also missing,” adding that a domestic helper who is from Bihar is also missing due to which he is becoming primary suspect for the relatives in the alleged murder case.
The relatives also informed that body has been taken for post-mortem while police said that investigation in the matter has been started.
The relatives, however, demanded a Special Investigation Team (SIT) should be constituted in this regard—(KNO)
