Srinagar, Feb 16: The Crime Branch of Jammu and Kashmir police has filed a charge sheet against a father-son duo for luring and cheating the man on the pretext of arranging jobs in J&K Bank in favour of his sons and duping him to the tune of Rs 3 Lakh.
The charge sheet was filed in a court of law against Mohammad Ashraf Malik (now expired) and his son Shahnawaz Malik on Saturday, a spokesman of the Crime Branch said on Sunday in a statement issued.

He said a case was registered under FIR No. 20/2016 u/s 420,120-B RPC at P/S Crime Branch Jammu against the father-son duo, hailing from Gagran village of Shopian district, following a complaint lodged by Harbans Lal Bhagat son of Late Kanshi Ram R/o 211, Sec-1, EWS Colony Roop Nagar Jammu in the Crime Branch, alleging that while being posted in Srinagar he came into contact with the accused and became friends.
“As the complainant was desperately searching the jobs for his unemployed sons, accused persons assured to manage the employment of his sons in J&K Bank by alluring him that they are closely associated with the then Finance Minister,” a spokesman said.
“On receipt of this complaint a preliminary verification was initiated in the Crime Branch, Jammu and during the course of verification the allegations were prima facie substantiated, leading to registration of criminal case. During the course of investigation the allegations against the accused were proved and charge sheet was produced before the Court of law on 15-02-2020,” a spokesman of the Crime Branch said
