Instead of resolving our problem, a PDD officer provokes us for violence, allege Pakharpora locals

Budgam, Feb 14, : An officer from Power Development Department (PDD) instead of addressing the problems of the people is provoking them for violence, alleged locals from Pakharpora here in Cental Kashmir’s Budgam district. The locals from Mohandpora, Pakharpora told Kashmir News Trust that a Junior Engineer identified as Irfan Ahmed instead of listening to their grievances is displaying arrogance and asking them to stage protest and block roads against PDD. “This is ridiculous on part of the officer. We had informed him about the illegal power theft and asked him to take measures to curb it as this is the main cause of power woes that people are facing. This officer, instead of listening to us is provoking us for protests. We were shocked to listen from him that they can approach DC Budgam against him,” the locals said. Manzoor Ahmed, who was a part of the delegation, said that this officer is not people friendly. “When I asked to launch a drive against those who resort to illegal hooking, he advised me in a harsh tone that, I should ask DC Bugam about the menace. It is because of the illegal hooking and inaction on part of the department that we witness low voltage when PDD supplies power supply in the area for couple of hours,” he said.
